Sessional Dates and Deadlines

 

Fall Session 2016

September 1 Deadline to submit documentation to be reviewed by the Committee on Standing for Spring/Summer courses (May to August).
September 2 iSchool Deadline: Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for July-August (S) and May-August (Y) summer session courses.
September 5 Labour Day holiday (University closed).
September 6 SGS Orientation for new students.
September 8 iSchool Orientation Day and General Assembly.
September 9 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for July-August (S) and May-August (Y) summer session courses and extended courses (Note: iSchool Deadline is September 2, 2016).
September 12 First day of classes.
September 14 Summer session grades available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI.
September 15 Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2016-17.
September 16 Last date for payment of tuition fees or processing of Tuition Fee Deferrals based on government loans/major awards to meet registration deadline.

Registration for fall session ends; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed.

Minimum required payment due (unpaid fees from previous session(s)+ 100% of current fall session (September to December) tuition fees).

September 18 Final date to complete Cite It Right.
September 26 Final date to add full-year (Y) and fall session (F) courses.
September 30 Remaining fall session (September to December) fees due by this date to avoid incurring service charges , which begin accruing on October 15.

Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for master’s degrees for Fall Convocation without fees being charged for the fall session.

Final date to submit final doctoral thesis for Fall Convocation.

 October 2 5 p.m. application deadline for: iSchool NSERC Current Doctoral Awards.
 October 10 Thanksgiving Day holiday (University closed).
 October 14 5 p.m. application deadline for: iSchool SSHRC Current Doctoral Awards.
 October 17 5 p.m. application deadline for: iSchool Current Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships.
October 28 5 p.m. application deadline for: Winifred G. Barnstead Scholarship, Florence Partridge Scholarship, George H. Locke Memorial Scholarship, (FI) Dean’s Advisory Board Prize, Scholarship in Public Librarianship, Grace Buller Aboriginal Student Scholarship, Rebanks Family Competitive Grant (TBC), UofT Women’s Association Adele Csima Scholarship.
 October 31  Final date to drop fall session full (Y) or half (F) courses without academic penalty. (Use ACORN/ROSI. No form needed – within SGS deadline.) Dropping courses after the deadline is not allowed. Please see Academic Regulations for more information.

November 3  Winter 2017 course enrolment for Second+ year students only begins: 6 a.m. (ACORN/ROSI time).
November 7 November Convocation Ceremony for Faculty of Information PhD, MI, MMSt, and DAIS programs.

Fall Reading Week Begins.

November 30  Students registered in Fall-Winter: Remaining winter session (January to April) fees due by this date to avoid incurring service charges, which begin accruing on December 15.
December 1 5 p.m. application deadline for Doctoral Completion Award (DCA) and Annual Bursaries.

8 p.m. iSchool CGS-M (SSHRC) Current Master’s Award application deadline.

December 12  Last day of classes in the Fall Session.
December 15  Deadline to submit documentation to be reviewed by the Committee on Standing for First session (Fall) courses (September to December).
December 13  Fall Exam Week begins.
December 21  Winter Break begins (University closed Wednesday, December 21, 2016 to Friday, December 30, 2016 inclusive).
December 31  End of Fall Session.

 

Winter Session 2017

January 2 University re-opens.
January 6 iSchool Deadline: Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for fall session courses.
January 9 First day of classes.

INF1005H Workshops run week of January 9-week of February 13, 2017.

January 13 Final date to add INF1005H Workshops (Use ACORN/ROSI. No form needed – within SGS deadline).

Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for fall session courses (Note: iSchool Deadline is January 6, 2017).

Registration deadline for students registering in winter session; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed.

Minimum Required Payment due (unpaid fees from previous session(s)+ 100% of current winter session (January to April) tuition fees).

January 15 5 p.m. iSchool OGS Incoming Doctoral’s student application deadline.
January 16 Final date to submit doctoral theses without fee payment for Winter session.
January 18 Fall session grades available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI.
January 20 Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for March or June graduation for Master’s students without fees being charged for the winter session.

Final date for all students to request that their degrees be conferred in absentia in March.

Final date to submit final doctoral thesis for March Convocation in absentia.

Fall dual registrants must be recommended for the master’s degree by this date to maintain their PhD registration.

January 23 Final date to drop INF1005H Workshops (Use ACORN/ROSI. No form needed – within SGS deadline).

Final date to add winter session (S) courses (Use ACORN/ROSI. No form needed – within SGS deadline).

February 17 5 p.m. application deadline for: HBC Foundation Award, Ruth Corner Public Librarian Scholarship, Ethel W. Auster Scholarship.
February 20 Family Day holiday (University closed).
February 21 T4A & T2202A available on ACORN for students.

February 24 Final date to drop MSL2100H Museum Environment (Use ACORN/ROSI. No form needed – within SGS deadline).

March 1 March Graduation in absentia information is posted at: www.convocation.utoronto.ca.

5 p.m. application deadline for: Current OGS Master’s and Doctoral students (including OGS Visa).

March 3 Final date to add INF1006H Workshops (Submit an Add/Drop form to iSchool Student Services).
March 13 Final date to drop INF1006H Workshops (Submit an Add/Drop form to iSchool Student Services).

April 7 Last day of classes.
April 10 Winter Exam Week begins.
April 14 Good Friday holiday (University closed).
April 17 iSchool Deadline: for students obtaining degrees at June Convocation, coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and winter session courses.
April 21 For students obtaining degrees at June Convocation, coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and winter session courses (Note: iSchool Deadline is April 17, 2017).

Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for master’s degrees for June Convocation.

Final date for submission of final doctoral thesis for students whose degrees are to be conferred at the June Convocation.

Final date for degree recommendations of Winter dual registrants for the Master’s degree to maintain their PhD registration.

April 28 End of Winter Session.
May 1 Deadline to submit documentation to be reviewed by the Committee on Standing for Winter Session courses (January to April).

 

Spring/Summer Session 2017

May 1 First session (F-section) of summer courses begins. F-section classes run Monday May 1st to Monday June 12th.

Full session (Y-section) of summer courses. Y-section classes run Tuesday May 2nd to Friday July 21st.

May 5 Final date for registration for May session; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed.
May 8 Final date to enrol in May-June (F) or May-August (Y) session courses.

iSchool Deadline: Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and winter session courses.

May 12 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and winter session courses (except for extended courses) (Note: iSchool Deadline is May 8, 2017).
May 17 Winter session grades available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI.
May 22 Victoria Day holiday (University closed).
May 26 Final date to drop May-June (F) section summer courses without academic penalty. Dropping courses after the deadline is not allowed. Please see Academic Regulations for more information.

June 1 Spring Convocation information and dates are posted at: www.convocation.utoronto.ca. Exact days TBA.
June 13 First session (F-section) exam period runs from June 13 to June 16.
June 19 Final date to drop May-August session (Y) section summer courses without academic penalty. Dropping courses after the deadline is not allowed. June 30 End of first summer sub-session (F). Note: The last day of classes or exams (if applicable) is earlier.
July 3 Canada Day holiday (University closed).

Final date to enrol in July-August (S-section) summer courses.

July 4 Second session (S-section) of summer courses begins. S-section classes run Tuesday July 4th to Friday August 11th.
July 10 iSchool Deadline: Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for May-June (F) section summer courses.
July 14 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for May-June F section summer courses (Note: iSchool Deadline is July 10, 2017).
July 17 Final date to drop July-August (S) section summer courses without academic penalty. Dropping courses after the deadline is not allowed. Please see Academic Regulations for more information.

July 19 Grades for May-June (F) section summer courses available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI.
July 24 Full session (Y-section) exam period runs July 24 to July 28.

August 14 Second session (S-section) exam period runs August 14 to August 18.
August 31 End of full summer (Y) & second summer (S) sessions.
September 1 Deadline to submit documentation to be reviewed by the Committee on Standing for Spring/Summer courses (May to August).
