Physical props

Yoga mats

The iRelax yoga mats were purchased from JadeYoga through the Toronto-based Stezo Importers Distributors. JadeYoga was created in 2002 to bring the first natural rubber yoga mats to market. Stezo was asked to represent JadeYoga in Canada. JadeYoga’s mats are made with natural rubber, and do not contain PVC or other synthetic rubbers. Natural rubber is tapped from a rubber tree, much like syrup is tapped from maple trees. JadeYoga’s rubber is primarily supplied by rubber tree farms in Malaysia.

Yoga blocks

The iRelax yoga blocks were also purchased from JadeYoga Mats through Stezo Importers Distributors. These props are ethically produced. With each purchase of a cork block, a tree is planted by Trees for the Future. With each purchase of a balsam block, money is donated towards preserving the rainforest via Tropical Rainforest Coalition.

Meditation benches

The iRelax meditation benches were purchased from the Montreal-based IKUKO. The bench is 100% made in Canada from wild cherrywood. It is built using wood offcuts and naturally pigmented oils. The cotton pouch for the bench is made by a charitable organization that supports women in need.

Meditation cushions

The iRelax meditation cushions were purchased from the Hamilton-based Love My Mat, founded in 2008 by a mother-daughter team. Their yoga accessories are hand-crafted from reclaimed fabric, like curtains and tablecloths.

Learning materials

The iRelax mini-library

The books are available for use throughout the 4th and 5th floors on a first-come, first-served basis. All books were purchased from Caversham Booksellers on Harbord Street.

Mindfulness-supporting tech

iPod shuffle and iPod nano

These iPods are available from the Information Desk on a 1 hour loan. They contain guided meditations, and the iPod Nano also contains guided yoga videos. The guided meditations range from 3 to 20 minutes: the guided yoga is about an hour long.

Noise-cancelling headphones

These headphones pair well with the borrowable iPods above, and are also well-suited for any of the free guided meditations we have loaded on to the iPods.
