Confirmation of Registration


The Student Services office, School of Graduate Studies (SGS) or University, depending on what is required, assists students in confirming registration, which includes official transcripts, letters of registration and degree verification.

Official Transcripts

An official University of Toronto transcript is printed on certified paper and lists a student’s full academic history at the time of printing. It is the official version of the transcript students can view in the “Academic History” section of ACORN.

Students can order official transcripts from the Transcript Centre or through ACORN. Details on cost and processing times can be found on the Transcript Centre’s website.

Letters confirming registration

For our undergraduate students:

Bachelor’s of Information students can send their requests to the Student Services team at inquire.ischool@utoronto.ca, with the subject line: [BI] Letters of Registration request

Please include the following in the request email:

  • Name and student number
  • Purpose of the letter
  • Content required (examples below):
    • Previous and current registered academic period(s)
    • Expected date of graduation
    • Tuition fees paid
    • Other

For our graduate students:

Official letter(s) confirming registration can only be produced by SGS. Students may initiate their requests by completing the Letter request form, and emailing it to SGS at graduate.information@utoronto.ca.

Degree Verification

All third-party requests for verification of a graduate’s degree are processed by U of T’s Confirmation of Degree website.

U of T graduates who require a letter of degree confirmation should visit the University’s Certification of Degree website.

Successful Completion of Degree

For our undergraduate students:

Students who have completed their degree requirements can request for a Letter of Degree Completion through the Student Services at inquire.ischool@utoronto.ca, with the subject line: [BI] Confirmation of Degree completion.

This letter will indicate that the student has completed their degree requirements, the length of the program and the program of study.

The Faculty is only able to provide such a letter when:

  • ACORN has published all of the student’s final grades
  • The Faculty has verified that the student has met all degree requirements

For our graduate students:

Students who have completed their degree requirements can request a Letter of Degree Completion through SGS. This letter will indicate that the student has completed their degree requirements, the length of the program and the program of study.

SGS is only able to provide such a letter when:

  • ACORN has published all of the student’s final grades
  • SGS and the Faculty have both verified that the student has met all degree requirements

Students with an urgent need for such a letter should contact the Student Services team to discuss.
