Designing surveys for information research

Designing surveys for information research

The Zoom password for all iSkills workshops is “iSkills”.

Surveys are a powerful tool for understanding respondents’ attitudes, opinions, behaviours, and characteristics. How can we effectively use surveys in information research? In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of survey design, and then get hands-on experience designing surveys to address information-related research topics.

Participants will be asked to submit a short description of a research problem or topic in advance of the workshop. These will be used to help shape the workshop contents, and used during hands-on survey design activities.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Appreciate the basic principles of survey research
  • Know how to write effective survey questions for a given research problem, through hands-on experience
  • Understand how survey designs relate to the subsequent analysis
