Email management and communication

Email management and communication

Emails have become routine, an expected communication channel for professional organizations. When written effectively, emails encourage efficiency, support productivity, and foster professional relationships. Ineffective emails can result in miscommunication and delays—issues that also occur when email inboxes are left unmanaged. A high volume of emails can be overwhelming but easily organized with highly efficient workflows. This workshop focuses on (1) writing professional emails and (2) setting up a system to optimize the Outlook email inbox.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • Compose meaningful, action-oriented, and concise professional emails that include a professional signature, created in Outlook
  • Develop a filing system that uses Outlook’s built-in features, including automated rules, categories, flags, folders, and the focused inbox
  • Implement time-saving strategies that minimize email overload and work toward ‘inbox zero’ (an empty inbox)
