Ethical considerations and conundrums in museums
We talk a lot about ethics in the museum world, we write ethics standards and guidelines to inflect our work. In spite of that, museums pop up in the news all too often for going about things the wrong way. Why? In this workshop, participants will be introduced to museum ethics protocols and guidelines through comparison and discussion. They will then examine ethical conundrums drawn from real life examples and make decisions based on what seems most ethical and why.
In this workshop, participants will:
- Evaluate the ethical decisions museums made
- Compose and defend appropriate responses to the challenges
