Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a qualified Records and Information Manager & Privacy Officer to join their Executive Council Office team. Reporting to the Director of Governance, they will be responsible for facilitating effective organizational management of information and records in all formats for KDFN and play a lead role in the establishment and maintenance of the government-wide records and information management program. This entails ensuring safe storage methods for active and inactive records, records classification, retention and disposition scheduling, implementing and managing a scanning program, and overseeing the management of information systems such as databases.

As the Privacy Officer, the incumbent will be the main point of contact for all privacy and freedom of information inquiries and provide guidance on information given to outside agencies, other governments, KDFN citizens and the general public where applicable. They will participate in the development of legislation, policies and procedures related to privacy and freedom of information and provide specialized training to staff when necessary.

Our successful candidate should have solid project management and supervisory skills, strong communication (both written and verbal), and effective time-management skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The ability to research, evaluate and present options and plan program development and implementation with sound analytical thinking, research, prioritization and execution skills will be required for success in this role.


Essential Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in Information Science, Library Science, Public Policy, Business Administration or related discipline, supplemented by courses and/or certification in freedom of information and protection of privacy;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in records and information management;
  • Experience supervising and training staff:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of records and information management functions including experience in implementing records management systems;
  • Experience with records classification development, retention and records disposition;
  • Sound knowledge of freedom of information and protection of privacy principles, with demonstrated experience researching, analyzing and interpreting legislation and processing information requests;
  • Experience in using databases, running queries, conducting complex information searches, extracting and reporting information. 

Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation culture, history, goals and aspirations is required for success.
