The Archives Intern will provide practical on-site, hands-on experience in the collection, preservation, and presentation of Archives relevant to the history and culture of St. Andrew’s College.

Placement Description:

Under the general direction of the Archivist this Internship will provide experience in the following areas of Documenting, Curating and Sharing the history and culture of St. Andrew’s College using Archival materials.The basis for the placement will include conducting an inventory to provide information on artifacts’ locations, conditions, and descriptions by engaging in the following tasks:

  • Survey the school for artifacts significant to the school’s traditions, history, or culture, noting their locations, condition, and description
  • Review and inventory contents of Archival storage locations to confirm artifacts, conditions and improve descriptions
  • Provide descriptions for artifacts found to assist in the creation of an effective database
  • Recommend and create a display to celebrate the 125 Anniversary of St. Andrew’s College for the 2023-2024 School Year using artifacts discovered and available if time permits.

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with confidential information is essential
  • Effective organizational and administrative skills
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Comfort working in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated initiative and commitment to learning
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to perform work which may include climbing ladders, lifting up to 25 lbs., exposure to dust
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • Confirmation of vaccination or valid medical and/or religious exemption
