Description: Casual Position September 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023
Hours of Work: Up to 7-15 hours per week

Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Head, Public Services, the incumbent provides reference and research services to students, faculty, staff, and other Library patrons. The incumbent is also involved with activities of the Reference & Research team, and projects are assigned on an as needed basis.

Typical duties include:

• Provides reference and research services to students, faculty, staff, and other Library patrons in-person, virtually, or a combination of both
• Provides basic instruction to individuals (or groups) in using electronic and print resources and tools to assist with research related tasks.
• Special projects as identified will include but are limited to a focus on marketing and publications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Seeking students currently enrolled in graduate studies in an accredited MLS/MLIS library science/information studies program at the University of Toronto.

Minimum:
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Customer service skills and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing work demands and requirements. The successful candidate must be available to work evening and weekends as scheduled.

Preferred:
Previous reference service in an academic library and current knowledge of electronic resources offered by the UTL system is an asset. Knowledge of Web applications an asset. Knowledge focus includes all aspects of the arts, humanities, social sciences, and science represented on the campus.

Hourly Rate: $ 26.06
