Job Description
Job Title: Archives AssistantThis is a unique opportunity to join a small museum team. You will be working with others to make archival materials available and accessible to a growing audience. We are seeking an individual who has an interest in all aspects of the management of an archival program, especially within a community museum setting. The candidate must be passionate about public access to archives and their management.Job Description:You will be a valued member of the team at the Dundas Museum and Archives. Projects will include:– Acquisition and accessioning– Arrangement, description, and digitization– Reference service– Promotion and outreach– Preventive and active conservationQualifications and skills:You must be a college or university graduate, preferably from a master’s level archives or information management program. Students graduating from master’s level museum studies, library studies, undergraduate programs majoring in history or college level archives, and museum or library programs may also be considered.As well you should have the following skills:– Superior attention to detail and highly developed organizational skills.– Excellent interpersonal communication is essential.– The ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary is required.– Exceptional customer service is an asset.– Proficient in Word, Excel, and Photoshop.
