Volunteer I

Description of Duties:
1. Editing and conducting existing on-line catalog. 2. Analyzing and sorting video and written information for completing bibliographical records for each of oral video Holocaust survivors’ testimony. 3. Assisting in cataloging of the rear/antique specialized collections to complete an existing on-line catalogue.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Efficient and accurate cataloguing and data entry. Quick learner, problem solver and effective worker. Print and electronic records management. Precise, self-directed research abilities. Word processing and typing (60-90 wpm). High productivity by focus and multitasking. Friendly, engaging and energetic. Responsible and polite.

Expected Outcomes:
To help a librarian (library manager) to complete a creation process of the new database of the Holocaust Survivors Oral Video Testimonies and the rear/antique specialized collections. These are unique projects that amplify multi-colored history of Torontonians.

Number of hours:
45+ with very flexible schedule

 

Volunteer II

Description of Duties:
Taking part in a project that curates a collection of video testimonies of Holocaust survivors. The student will watch the testimonies and identify pivotal moments in an oral-video history recording that will capture the attention of viewers while remaining true to the experiences of the individual Holocaust survivor. The student will use this material to develop survivor biographies that will be used on www.intheirownwords.net.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Printed and electronic records management. Self-directed research abilities. Quick learner and problem solver. High productivity by focus and multitasking. Word processing and efficient data entry skills (60-90 wpm). Some knowledge of the Holocaust and World War II history is helpful but not required.

Expected Outcomes:
Creation of survivor biographies that will be used for the “In Their Own Words” website.
