Authorship Opportunity – Records and Information Management (Thomson Reuters)

Thomson Reuters is looking for an author to complete ongoing updates to an existing online and print looseleaf publication entitled Records and Information Management. This resource is an exhaustive guide, designed especially for information management, legal and accounting professionals. It provides a complete reference to the principles and practices of information management and to the legal obligations of Canadian businesses to retain documents and files. This book deals with a wide range of issues related to management, retention, accessibility, value and permissible destruction of business and professional records under federal and provincial statutes, international standards and recognized best practices.

The publication addresses specific topics covering a wider range of records issues. It includes very topical concerns such as big data, social media, cloud computing, privacy and the use of electronic and imaged records, as well as the increasingly important subject of governance. It also includes numerous very specific topics such as environmental records.

This opportunity is compensated by way of royalties and is not a full- or part-time job per se. Nevertheless, it is an excellent opportunity to help establish thought leadership in the field, develop current knowledge and credibility and facilitate career and/or business development.

The time commitment would be approximately 100 to 200 hours per year and involves preparing four to five updates per year. This role would be suitable for a faculty member, graduate or current master’s student with previous work experience in the field of records and information management and solid writing skills. Relevant education and/or certifications and work experience are required.

To apply for this position, please submit a resume and/or biographical profile along with a short writing sample to Brian Kreissl, Publishing Manager, at brian.kreissl@tr.com.
