Applications for all positions due Friday, January 4, 2019 by 4:30 pm

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements;
• candidates must currently be enrolled in a secondary, post-secondary, or another full-time
educational program and must be returning to school in a full-time capacity September 2019
• have attained the age of 16 (by April 1st, 2019)
• must possess current Standard First Aid* (certification date issued after
December 31, 2017). Issue date must be indicated on your application or resume
• must possess current Basic Rescuer CPR–C* (certification date issued after
December 31, 2018). Issue date must be indicated on your application or resume

*Note: Only those with current certifications as defined above, or who are registered at the time
of submitting their application to attend a Standard First Aid or CPR-C course to take place prior
to March 18, 2019, will be considered for employment. Confirmation of registration will be
required if being considered for an interview. Other levels of certification (i.e. emergency first
aid, basic first aid, CPR-A, CPR-B) are unacceptable.

register for a course:

• successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening
as a condition of employment
• must be available to work the entire duration of the Program:
o Pickering Museum Village – April 1st to December 31st (Fall – weekends only)
• must be able to work weekends and holidays as required including July 1st, 2019
• must be willing to attend various mandatory training sessions (see below)
• applications/resumes should also include related education and employment experience as well as
relevant recreational and volunteer experience for the camp/position that best suits the applicants

Pickering Museum Village – April 1st – December 31st, 2019
Mandatory Training Dates
• only new staff must attend the following;
• High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development training on Saturday, May 25th from 9:00 am
to 4:30 pm
• New Employee Orientation on Friday, April 26th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (subject to change)
• all staff must attend Cash Handling & Guest Services Training – April 26th from 1:00 pm –
4:00 pm; and Pickering Museum Village Training April 27th, 28th,
May 4th and 11th from 9:00 am–4:30 pm


Position & Experience Required Additional Mandatory Training Dates
Specific to Each Position

Museum Guide/Receptionist
• currently enrolled in a history, anthropology and/or archaeology program
• knowledge of historical events with the ability to perform historical research and
• knowledge of 19th Century crafts
• experience as a historical interpreter and/or museum volunteer is an asset
• general office/cashier experience an asset
Museum Admissions/Receptionist
• knowledge of general office practices/procedures and basic accounting methods for the daily
handling of Museum cash
• general office/cashier experience and a genuine interest in history an asset
