THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA LIBRARIES Digital Curation Librarian/Archivist The University of Manitoba Libraries seeks an effective, highly-motivated person for the position of Digital Curation Librarian/Archivist at a General/Assistant Librarian rank to begin April 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. This position normally has a two year probationary period and the salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Research Services & Digital Strategies, the Digital Curation Librarian/Archivist will assist in the development of a preservation and curation program for digital assets at the University of Manitoba Libraries. Working with the University community and the Libraries, the Digital Curation Librarian/Archivist will work to acquire, preserve, and provide access to digital content across a number of different formats and media types. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: -A Master’s degree in archival studies or a Master’s degree in library and/or information studies from an ALA accredited institution; -Professional experience working in an archives, preferably in an academic institution; -Knowledge of and experience with library and archives standards, processes, and technologies, including both open source and proprietary; -Demonstrated experience working with digitized and born-digital content; -Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload in a timely and effective manner; -Effective oral and written communication skills; -Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills. Candidates with the following additional qualifications will be preferred: -Professional experience with born-digital archival materials; -Professional experience working with digital curation hardware systems and software applications; -Professional experience developing a preservation program for digitized and born-digital materials.
