Job Description
The Vincent Graves Green Philatelic Research Foundation, also known as Canada’s Philatelic Centre, supports study, research and publishing in stamp collecting and the history of postal communication. The Foundation has a new strategic direction that includes the development of a Broadcast Centre.

Integral to the Foundation’s work is the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library. Located in midtown Toronto adjacent to the subway line, this unique library with more than 15,000 volumes is used by experts, stamp collectors, researchers, and philatelic societies from across Canada and around the world.

A new position of Library Manager has been developed to support the Foundation’s goals and priorities. The Library Manager is an integral part of the Foundation’s team and is expected to participate in the day-to-day work of the Foundation, including the development of its Broadcast Centre and ongoing revenue generation.

As one of the few Foundation staff, the Library Manager will administer all aspects of the Foundation’s unique and specialized library and will be responsible for reviewing, rejuvenating, and promoting its programs, print and electronic collections and services; directing the work of part-time and casual staff and volunteers; developing and managing the library budget; and ensuring that the library’s programs, expert reference services and collections meet the needs of the Foundation and Canada’s philatelic community.

The ideal candidate will be someone who wants to be part of and contribute to the work of a small, energetic, and enthusiastic team of directors, experts and staff. You will be engaged and inclusive and ready to step in and assist wherever and whenever needed.

If you are interested in this position, ideally you will have:
• competences in all areas of special library work.
• a proven ability to lead, to build relationships and engage with others.
• an interest in stamps, history, and genealogy.
• a demonstrated ability to develop and promote the library’s services and programs and to advocate for the library’s needs.
• a willingness to look at different ways of doing things and to be a forward and innovative thinker who can determine the strategies necessary to further the Foundation and its library.
• a degree from a Masters Program in Information Studies/Library Science from an ALA-accredited university (or equivalent).
• one to five years of experience as a librarian with some supervisory responsibility.

This is a permanent full-time position. Some hybrid work is possible. Salary range: $65,000 to $75,000 per annum.
