Job Title: Library Services TechnicianCompetition #: 22-556Dept / Campus: Library & Learning Services/DoonSalary Range: Pay Band G; Salary Range $30.56 – $35.42; Starting Salary $30.5635 hours/weekPosting Date: May 4, 2022Closing Date: May 11, 2022Vacancy Type: Support Staff Full-time Replacement Position(Full-time Support Staff will be given first consideration)The Library Services Technician (Doon Campus) is a customer service professional providing comprehensive frontline services and support to students and faculty out of our libraries, which includes research, citation and academic integrity consultations to support student academic success. This incumbent also provides dedicated support of the Library and Learning’s Services communications and outreach.Although many of our employees are currently working remotely, this position is governed by the applicable legislation of the Province of Ontario. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Frontline Service & Related DutiesProvides blended frontline service to the Conestoga community including the following areas:Information & Research:• Reference Services for Conestoga students, faculty, staff and the community which involves interviewing, interpreting requirements, and establishing level and detail of information needed. Guides users in the inquiry and research process. This also includes the provision of virtual (online) reference servicesCirculation Services:• Using the integrated library system loans materials and maintains/updates accounts and books media and technologyTechnology Support:• Offers technology assistance as part of TeachMeTech and Tech Bar services. This includes access issues, hardware and software troubleshooting.• Provides training to students on productivity tools such as Microsoft Office or other College support software.• Offers basic support on assistive technology and refers to the Learning Technology Liaison where appropriateStudent Success:• Provides a range of academic services which includes offering guidance and utilizing available resources for: learning skills, citing & referencing, the academic integrity process, and supporting research consultations• Offers informed referral to other College services including assistance navigating resources (websites) and booking appointmentsCommunications & Outreach• Programs and creates regular content for the department’s Social Media channels (E.g., Instagram & Twitter), plus tracks client engagement data and trends.• Supports and collaborates with Library & Learning Services administration and staff in department outreach publication creation (e.g, Infographics) and promotional materialLibrary & Learning Services Activities, Committee Work & Projects as Assigned• Engages in activities to support library services based on availability of projects, incumbent’s interest and aptitudeQUALIFICATIONS:• Two-year Diploma in a library sciences discipline, or a related field of study, is required• Two years of practical library experience preferably in an academic library setting and including:o traditional reference and circulation serviceso technology supporto circulation serviceso referencing and citation supporto communications, social media and outreach/event support• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.• Dedication to customer service.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Problem-analysis and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple demands and changing priorities.• Knowledge and understanding of academic integrity standards and application of citation/writing styles
