The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) is Canada’s window on parliament, politics, and public affairs. As Canada’s only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. We are looking for an experienced media asset coordinator to join our creative and nimble team.
As Media Asset Coordinator / Archivist you will work with our programming team to manage the ingesting, cataloging, and archiving of all CPAC’s programming assets. You’ll spend your days managing assets inside our MAM system while working with the editorial team to locate content for daily programs.
Based in Ottawa, this is a great opportunity for an individual who is experienced in media management and archiving who has a passion for politics and public affairs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and organizational skills and demonstrate excellent judgement with a deep appreciation and knowledge of all things political.
- Managing all incoming and outgoing media, ensuring timely delivery of media to internal and external customers;
- Working with CPAC’s editorial and promotion teams to locate media for daily, weekly, and special programming;
- Cataloging and archiving all CPAC’s programming and media assets;
- Making daily editorial and archival decisions including identifying, isolating, extracting, describing, and archiving raw video content from feeds, and other sources for future productions;
- Ingesting and converting content from various sources and formats;
- Troubleshooting issues related to MAM system;
- Continued professional development to remain current with industry best practices related to media management.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):
- A degree or diploma in archival science or related discipline is considered an asset, and two years of comparable and relevant experience;
- Strong knowledge of video asset management platforms and computer system operation and maintenance;
- Familiarity with Dalet, or other digital asset systems, cloud storage solutions, and file transfer tools considered a definite asset;
- Up to date understanding of digital file formats & video codecs;
- Understanding of audio-visual archival practices and issues;
- Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills;
- Maintains well organized and meticulous files and records;
- Ability to work to exacting standards, including critical deadlines under high stress situations;
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends, as required;
- Must be independent, self-motivated, and self-sufficient;

- Preference may be given to candidates who are fully bilingual in English and French.
