PUBLIC SERVICES DEVELOPMENT LIBRARIAN
Casual Opportunity (up to 1 year to cover a maternity leave)
Bilingual, Full-time Fredericton
The New Brunswick Public Library Service (NBPLS) is searching for a creative and dynamic
individual with demonstrated enthusiasm towards the mission of public libraries for the casual
opportunity of Public Services Development Librarian at the Provincial Office in Fredericton.
As a member of the provincial office team, the successful candidate will report to the Head of
Public Services Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development,
coordination and evaluation of provincial scale programs and services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the development, marketing and evaluation
of provincial programs and services; leading provincial committees and coordinating their work;
managing the development of provincial promotional campaigns and associated materials in print and
electronic format; participating in identifying training needs, developing training materials and
delivering training; participating in developing, implementing and coordinating online programs and
services; identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant applications; conducting research
and preparing reports; participating in various committees; promoting the public library system by
engaging in public and media relations; participating in strategic and operational planning;
developing relationships with provincial partners; making presentations; overseeing and managing
special projects; and assuming other duties as assigned.
Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Studies from an ALA
accredited program Experience working with MS Office software is required. Graphic design skills
and knowledge of HTML are considered an asset.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language

The successful candidate will possess leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. A
demonstrated sense of organization as well as a strong aptitude for public service, research,
problem solving, analysis and teamwork is necessary. This opportunity requires travel.
