Submitted on Monday, November 04, 2019

The American Library Association’s ALA Spectrum Scholarship Program is an initiative of ALA’s Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services, that provides scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Middle Eastern and North African, and/or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander students to assist them with obtaining a graduate degree and leadership positions within the profession and ALA. More than 1,100 library leaders of color have benefited from funding, community building, and opportunities to collectively advance equity, diversity, and inclusion as part of the Spectrum network.

Visit their website to learn more about Spectrum, including frequently asked questions, application instructions, and Scholar resources.

Applications for funding for the 2020-2021 academic year are currently open with a deadline of March 7, 2020.

They will also be hosting an informational webinar in early December 2019 aimed at current and prospective Spectrum applicants to discuss the application process and give tips and information on navigating additional funding sources for MLS/MLIS programs.
