On Thursday, January 11th, the iSchool hosted it’s 2nd annual Co-op Retrospective. Students who had completed their co-op work term have returned from their 8-month placements. These exceptional students shared their experiences in a poster-presentation event in the Inforum with over 40 posters. Here are some highlights:
- Returning students had a wide range of experiences during their work terms. These students travelled throughout Toronto, Canada and for some the world to put what they’ve learned during their time in the iSchool into practice in the professional field. Students worked in private and public organizations, ranging from government departments, corporate banks, emerging start-ups and many more. Placement of interest included students placed at Baker & McKenzie who were instrumental in contributing to the success of their Information Governance tem.
- In attendance were also many supervisors of these students – and in some cases even their Some being alumni of the iSchool, many already knew of the great work our Faculty is conducting. However others who were not familiar with the iSchool until hiring a co-op student were exposed to the great quality of work other students had conducted, including those from MaRS Discovery District. This event proved to be great exposure for our Faculty for prospective employers.
- Current co-op students who are preparing to go out of their work terms this Summer were also in attendance. These students had a chance to speak with past co-op students to get an understanding of what to expect and as well network with their prospective employers.
Prof. Siobhan Stevenson, Co-op Director and Alex Howes, Careers Officer, would like to thank all those who joined us for this event!
