Congratulations to Prof Jenna Hartel on her innovation award

Submitted on Friday, September 09, 2022

Associate Professor Jenna Hartel has received the ALISE/Pratt-Severn Faculty Innovation Award for her INFIDEO videos, which launched on YouTube just over a year ago. Hartel started making the informative and entertaining short videos to fill a void she identified during the pandemic when she couldn’t find high-quality multimedia resources in the library and information sciences field.

Her latest INFIDEOS series, aimed at doctoral students and entitled Hear! Here! tackles a range of methodological topics in about 90 seconds each. “I imagined each video as a stimulant and springboard for a productive conversation between a supervisor and their doctoral student,” says Hartel.

Previous series covered great papers in the information fields, information behaviour concepts, and Information and Leisure, one of Hartel’s research interests.

ALISE, which promotes excellence in library and information science education, honoured Hartel for incorporating evolving information technologies in the curricula of accredited master’s degree programs in library and information studies.
