Dean’s April message re 21/22 academic year

Submitted on Thursday, April 01, 2021

Dear members of the Faculty of Information community,

Before we all take a very welcome break from classes for the long weekend, I wanted to let you know a little more about what you can expect during the upcoming 2021/22 academic year.

As previously announced, all spring and summer classes at the Faculty of Information will be remote. For the fall of 2021 and continuing into the winter 2022 term, our goal is to develop a plan that includes in-person components for as many courses as possible and that provides in-person experiences for every learner while protecting the health and safety of our community.

As a result, students should plan on being in Toronto during the 2021/22 academic year.

I realize that while many of you will find this to be welcome news, for others it may well seem overly optimistic, especially given the new pandemic restrictions imposed in Ontario today. Please rest assured that as we plan, we are taking all this into account. The University and its health experts are indeed seeing the full and complex picture.

You can expect to hear to more from us about the 2021/22 in the coming weeks and months. And, as always, we want to hear from you if you have questions, concerns and suggestions.

In the meantime, I would like to wish those of you who celebrate a very Happy Easter. And to everyone, I hope that you have a very pleasant first long weekend of spring.

Sincerely,

Wendy Duff
Professor and Dean
