LIS Students Funded Training Opportunity!

Submitted on Tuesday, September 18, 2018

We are pleased to announce that funding is available for two students to attend the Data Liberation Initiative training at Ryerson University on December 4th and 5th, 2018.

The Ontario DLI training is a two day workshop where data librarians from OCUL institutions and Ontario colleges come together to learn from peers and experts in the field about various aspects of social science data and GIS. We cannot overemphasize the value of the experience which enables attendees to return to their respective libraries with renewed enthusiasm based on the information gained and the contacts made.

This commitment to training data librarians (past, present, and future) in this dynamic and exciting aspect of librarianship has been ongoing for almost 20 years, and we applaud DLI for their ongoing commitment.

Funding for the event includes travel to Ryerson, accommodation and meals and will be paid by the DLI.

In order to be considered for the funding, you will need to send a letter of interest to Stephanie Rose at steff.rose@utoronto.ca. Please include why you feel you should be selected for this opportunity. The Faculty will narrow down the list of applicants for final consideration. Letters of interest are due on Sept 26th at 1:00 pm. Please include in the subject line: “DLI Letter of Interest”.
