Student Leaders on Building Equitable, Diverse and Inclusive Spaces in the GLAM sector

The Faculty of Information’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Unit will be hosting a panel discussion, moderated by Ana Villegas and in conversation with Lenora Huỳnh (ACA), Dakshata Shukla (MISC) and Meg Sutton (MUSSA). Light refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!

About our panelists:

Lenora Huỳnh, Association of Canadian Archivists, UofT chapter

    • Lenora Huỳnh (b. 1996) is a second generation Vietnamese-Canadian who graduated with a BFA from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing her first year in MI with a concentration in Archives and Records Management and a Food Studies Specialization at the University of Toronto. Lenora is moreover an Outreach and Assessment TALint student at the OISE Library and is currently the Communications Coordinator for the university’s Association of Canadian Archivists Student Chapter. Throughout Lenora’s professional and academic experience, she developed a passion in advocating for diversity and inclusion through archival research, community programming, and art.

Dakshata Shukla, Master of Information Student Council

    • Dakshata Shukla (she/her) is currently studying User Experience Design and Human-centered Data Science as a Master’s student at the Faculty of Information. The MI Student Council Vice President, holds a Bachelor’s of Information Technology Engineering and has prior work experience as a Product Designer in the education technology industry, from India. She has worked with teams of all sizes ranging from large cross-funtional teams to small self-managed ones and has created design systems and project flows that rally for accessible and inclusive design to be incorporated right from the build.

Meg Sutton, Master of Museum Studies Student Association

    • Meg is the Vice President of the Master of Museum Studies Student Association (MUSSA) and a third year CDP student at the iSchool. She is gearing her education towards a career in cultural work, particularly one in which she can foster a positive environment between museums and their communities. With a love for storytelling, and a Bachelor degree in journalism, her goal is to ensure everyone’s voices are included in the retellings of our past, present, and future. Currently, Meg is working with Ontario Heritage Trust as an Archaeology Collections Technician.
