Celebrating 100 Years of the Faculty of Information

In 2028, the Faculty of Information will mark its centenary, celebrating a century of learning, discovery, and impact. The Centenary Project is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate the people and achievements that have shaped the Faculty, and explore what the next century could look like.

As planning gets underway, we want to hear from the FOI community. Whether you’re a student, alumnus, faculty member, or staff, your ideas, experiences, and perspectives will help shape a centenary that is meaningful, inclusive, and reflective of our collective vision for the future.

Roadmap-step1

Phase 2: Community Visioning

The Community Visioning phase will ensure the Faculty of Information’s centenary reflects the priorities and aspirations of the community it serves. While the Centenary Advisory Committee (CAC) provides overall direction, meaningful engagement with faculty, students, alumni, and staff will help ensure that programming and legacy initiatives are informed by a broad range of perspectives.

Starting in the 2026 academic year, the Faculty of Information community will be invited to participate in a range of activities that will help the CAC develop relevant and inclusive centenary programming recommendations to the Dean’s Office.

How to Participate

Focus Groups

Late October 2026 – Registration Coming Soon

Focus groups will bring together members of the FOI community to share ideas, prioritize themes, and identify opportunities that can inform centenary programming and legacy initiatives.

Survey

Coming Late September 2026

This survey will provide an accessible way for members of the FOI community to share their ideas, priorities, and feedback on the centenary. Responses will help identify common themes and inform future programming and legacy initiatives.

Email Us

If you are unable to participate in the above options or find they don’t quite capture your thoughts, you can always send us an email at centenary.ischool@utoronto.ca.

Programming Recommendations

Once focus group and survey results are collected, the Centenary Advisory Committee will work together to build Programming Recommendations based this feedback. By December 2026 these recommendations will be shared with the Dean for approval and shared broadly with the FOI community.
