Typescript 101

TypeScript is a free and open source programming language that is developed by Microsoft. TypeScript is increasingly gaining momentum in the software development industry. This is because TypeScript code converts easily to JavaScript and provides additional safeguards to ensure quality and scalable code. In this workshop you will learn how to use TypeScript to add client-side logic to your websites. We will explore TypeScript syntax and learn basic DOM (Document Object Model) manipulation using TypeScript. This workshop assumes no previous knowledge of programming or TypeScript. However, basic knowledge of JavaScript will be very helpful.

Through this workshop you will:

  • Learn the basic syntax of TypeScript.
  • Understand the basics of interacting with the DOM (Document Object Model) using TypeScript.
  • Be able to read and write small snippets of TypeScript code.
  • Learn basic TypeScript debugging using Visual Studio Code.

Ensure that your computer is running the latest version of Google Chrome and Visual Studio Code.
