Wikidata: An introduction to linked data
This workshop will introduce Wikidata, a free, web-based linked open database and tool. We will cover conceptual foundations, edit together, and review use cases. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Name the structure of linked data triples in Wikidata (Item-Property-Value)
- Create and edit Wikidata statements according to this structure
- Evaluate the completeness of an item
- Identify use cases for Wikidata as an open technology tool
- Recognise when community knowledge is needed and where to find it
