Purpose and Eligibility

The Apple Scholars in AI/ML Program recognizes the contributions of emerging leaders in computer science and engineering at the graduate and postgraduate level. The PhD fellowship in AI/ML was created as part of the Scholars program to support the work of outstanding PhD students from around the world, who are pursuing cutting edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Two years of funding.

How to Apply

Nominations are made by graduate units in the Summer session. Given the extremely competitive and prestigious nature of this international award, the University is required to carefully consider and select only the highest quality applications for nomination.

Applicants interested in being considered for this award are encouraged to contact their graduate unit.

In 2024, the deadline for graduate units to present ranked candidate(s) to SGS was August 2nd.

Please notify the Faculty of Information when you are applying for this award as there are obligations for the faculty in support of your application, (e.g. forwarding your application package to the Awards Committee for vetting and ranking, etc.): Awards.ischool@utoronto.ca

Selection Process

Successful applicants who are being presented by SGS are notified in September, while the successful candidates for the international selection, are notified directly in December.
