Purpose and Eligibility

To further recognize the importance the Faculty and University have placed on supporting Black and Indigenous student education, this grant is to be awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time and part-time students enrolled at the Faculty of Information. Preference will be given to students who have self-identified as Black or Indigenous (Inuit, Native, Status Indian, Non-Status Indian, Indigenous Members of First Nations or Metis).

Number of recipients varies per year.

Award Value and Duration

Varies. Dependent on availability of funds, number of students in need and amounts needed per student.

Students in the previous years received amounts between $300–$1700 CAD. Award disbursements may be split across multiple terms depending on total value.

This award is non-renewable (one year only).

How to Apply

Because there is a financial need component, students interested in applying for this award must fill in the Need Navigator application form which is a one-time application that will allow students to be considered for all awards and grants with a financial need component.  Need Navigator (utoronto.ca)

Deadline to Apply

Applicants must complete the application during the open application period which closes on October 18th, and all students will be advised about this date, via email.
