Awarded to a full-time doctoral student in candidacy in the Faculty of Information whose principal area of research is social issues in information. The student must be in good standing based on their latest annual progress report and financial need may be taken into account. This award may be held in conjunction with other major fellowships.

The value of this award varies and award disbursements may be split across multiple terms depending on total value.

This award is non-renewable (one year only).
