Ruth Corner Public Librarian Fellowship
Purpose and Eligibility
Awarded to a second year student (who will remain full-time during the tenure of this award) in the Masters of Information program in the LIS concentration. The recipient must be enrolled in at least one public library course, and have a demonstrated interest in public librarianship. Previous work/volunteer experience at a public library will be looked upon favourably.
Award Value and Duration
Varying amounts and varying number of awards available annually. As well, award disbursements may be split across multiple terms depending on total value.
This award is non-renewable (one year only).
How to Apply
Student must:
- Provide 2-3 references
- Have performed some public service (20% consideration)
- Write a 3,000 word essay (40% consideration). Associate Dean or Dean to set topic annually.
- Have a minimum academic standing of A- (40% consideration).
Students apply for this award using the Faculty of Information’s “In Course Award Application” form, (for continuing students who have already completed their first year of study). Applications are available in late summer and early fall here: In Course Awards Application 2024-25 (Page 1 of 3) (office.com) The deadline to apply for this award is October 18th.
