In this talk, Prof. Gautam discusses two participatory design projects: one in Nepal with anti-trafficking survivors and another in the U.S. supporting formerly incarcerated individuals. Both projects address stigma, structural barriers, and the opportunities and limitations of technology. By focusing on asset-based design, they explore key questions about effective actions, measurable impact, and how academic research can contribute to the public good, fostering a bridge between scholarly work and community-driven change.
