The Indigenous Action and Anti-Colonialism Committee at the Faculty of Information is thrilled to invite you to an interactive in-person workshop facilitated by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives.

Title: Two Canoes: One River – A Student-Focused, Interactive Cultural Workshop

Date: Wednesday, September 25, 2024  

Time: 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM  

Location: BL507, 5th Floor, Bissell Building  

Workshop Description:
Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives for an immersive and interactive workshop designed to deepen your understanding of Indigenous Cultural Competency. Through engaging exercises, facilitated discussions, and active participation, participants will explore stereotypes and biases, diversity of Indigenous peoples and protocols, and the importance of respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities.
 
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Deepen knowledge of Indigenous cultures, diversity, and protocols.
  • Gain an understanding of stereotypes and biases impacting meaningful reconciliation.
  • Understand the impacts of Settler Colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
  • Leave with actionable steps and resources for ongoing education
