Bio
Dr. Maher Elshakankiri is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, at the Faculty of Information (iSchool), University of Toronto. He holds an Engineering degree, Master, and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Ain Shams University (Egypt). He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Regina (Canada).
Dr. Elshakankiri’s research interests include Active Learning Classrooms, the Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. He authored a book titled “Introduction to Wireless Sensor Networks,” and published more than thirty peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. He is working on pedagogical research related to using technology and gaming in the classroom.
Dr. Elshakankiri is a member of the Standard Council Canada (SCC) committee for the Internet of Things and Digital Twins. He is also a reviewer at several journals and a technical program committee member at numerous conferences.
Dr. Elshakankiri is the Bachelor of Information Program Director.
