On February 7, students from the Faculty of Information led a Black History in GLAM Edit-A-Thon, updating and creating Wikipedia, Wikimedia and Wikidata entries on Black history within galleries, libraries, archives, and museums.
This event, part of a Black Histories Edit-A-Thon campaign across Toronto, was organized by students in INF1005 Exploring Outreach, a workshop class taught by Katrina Cohen-Palacios. A total of 37 students participated, collectively editing 11 articles, making 58 edits, and contributing over 2,000 words, 55 references and three images.
Notable contributions include creating an article for the Canada Black Music Archives and the Black Loyalist Heritage Society, adding content and citations about Julie Crooks (curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario) and updating the page for Griffin House National Historic Site.
