Faculty of Information Student Commons
The Student Commons, which occupies the fourth and fifth floors of the Faculty of Information’s Bissell Building, is a gathering place where students can study, meet for social reasons, catch up between classes, take advantage of the adjoining Maker Space, and much more. At the iRelax station, students can borrow meditation and yoga props for use throughout the Commons. As well, there’s often a jigsaw puzzle on the go near the front desk and other opportunities to engage in creative play and crafts.
Throughout the academic year, the Student Commons hosts special events to celebrate holidays and end of term. On other occasions, the Commons holds stress-relief events complete with snacks and service dogs.
The Student Commons is also the site of many co-curricular teaching and learning activities.
Four Student Councils
For students who wish to take on leadership roles, the Faculty of Information has four very active student councils. These groups organize a wide variety of events ranging from potlucks to academic conferences, and have genuine input into wider Faculty of Information policies, both present and future.
