Bio

Camille Intson (she/her) is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice spans writing, performance, music, new media, and emerging technology. Her recent accolades include an RBC Emerging Playwriting Prize (Studio180 Theatre), Playwrights’ Guild of Canada Tom Hendry Award, Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award (Folk Music Ontario/Ontario Arts Council), Equity Showcase Cayle Theatre Development Award nomination, and Canadian Folk Music Award nomination.

Camille is a current fifth year PhD Candidate within the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information, completing collaborative specializations in both Sexual Diversity Studies and Knowledge Media Design. Her doctoral research leverages research-creation, queer and feminist phenomenologies, and sensory analyses of contemporary performance works to explore trans-feminist and queer futurities though emerging technologies. This work has been generously funded by a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral Award and two Marcia J. Nauratil Memorial Fellowships. Over the last three years, she has worked as both a Graduate Fellow and Research Assistant at the Centre for Culture and Technology, as well as the Sexual Representation Collection.

In addition to her artistic and research practices, Camille has also worked as a sessional course instructor within the University of Toronto (St. George)’s Faculty of Information (INF2226 Queer G.L.A.M.), the University of Toronto (Scarborough)’s Department of Arts, Media, and Culture (MDSD10H3 Senior Seminar: Topics in Media and Arts), and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Performance at The Creative School (THF402 Text Examination).
