Bio
Lauren (she/her) is a doctoral student in the Media, Technology, and Communication concentration with the Faculty of Information. She received her Master of Arts in Communication from Simon Fraser University, where she researched noise-cancelling headphones as an extension of neoliberal values. Beyond academia, she has produced numerous podcasts, radio shows, and documentary media; some of her work has been nationally broadcasted on CBC and hosted on CBC Gem for streaming distribution. Her current research interests are in acoustic ecology, cultural sound studies, media archaeology, research creation, and sensory ethnography. Lauren’s research is generously funded by a SSHRC Canadian Graduate Scholarship — Doctoral (CGS-D) Award.
