The practicum allows students to:
- Develop professional competencies and identity while building the bridge from student to emerging professional
- Engage with industry professionals and build their community
- Meet their individual career goals and interests
- Prepare for the demands of today’s changing workforce
Timeline
- Students begin to define their interests, attend networking events, consult with Careers team
- Students apply for summer internships offered by large organizations
- International students connect with CIE to discuss co-op work permit, Student Services will provide a letter to submit to government to apply for permit
- Students take practicum preparation course: INF401H1
- Students continue to apply for industry positions, broaden search
- Students take up their practicum positions
- Students enrol in Work Integrated Learning Practicum course: INF402H1
