Bio

Dr. Laurent Bozec, professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, also holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Before joining U of T in 2018, he served as the Vice-Dean of Research for the Eastman Dental Institute at University College in London, England. He has supervised over 90 graduate students and collaborated with academics and industry partners on over 75 funded projects globally. He currently sits on the Governing Council of the University of Toronto and is an advocate for graduate students’ skill development as well as fairness, transparency and equity in funded research. He participates in several university-wide Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives. 

His research portfolio explores the relationship between collagen’s structural and biomechanical properties at the nanoscale in health and diseases. In 2024, his MFP lab engaged its efforts in the nanoscale collagen morphometry in Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As a translational researcher, he has long-standing expertise in parchment-based research for Cultural Heritage applications and is currently developing the field of conservation histology to help conservators across the globe.
