The Collection Sharing Project, an initiative exploring how advances in information science can unlock the hidden potential of museum storage through global collection sharing, held its first Knowledge Mobilization Meeting on July 9, 2026. More than 40 senior leaders from museums, cultural heritage institutions, academia and industry across the Global North and South gathered in person at the École Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP) in Casablanca and online.
The one-day consortium focused on three themes: Museum Collections at an Inflection Point, The Value of Developing a Global Collection Sharing Process, and Reimagining Museum Storage as a Networked Global Cultural Infrastructure. Discussions emphasized equitable access, collaborative stewardship, digital transformation, and international partnerships to advance more connected and sustainable approaches to collection sharing.
The initiative is anchored by the University of Toronto Faculty of Information, in strategic collaboration with Gail Lord, Co-founder of Lord Cultural Resources and Cultural Entrepreneur in Residence at the iSchool Institute.
