Bio
Julia Costanzo (She/her) left a career in health system advocacy to pursue a PhD in Media, Culture and Technology at the Faculty of Information. She also studies in the Collaborative Program in Addictions Studies at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Her research focuses on how new media demand new approaches for harm reduction, support and treatment of people with mental disorders and addictions. She’s currently examining how GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy create new attitudes about how to optimize the body and manage “problematic” cravings.
