Bio

Aline Zara is a Ph.D. candidate and artist at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information, supervised by M.E. Luka. Their research focuses on voice, sound, embodiment, and AI at the intersection of critical AI studies, voice and sound studies, transfeminist science and technology studies, disability studies, queer studies, and research-creation methods. Their dissertation brings together media histories of synthetic voice technologies with research-creation and speculative workshops to critically explore the relationship between AI-generated voices and imaginary bodies.
