Bio
Upasana Bhattacharjee is a PhD student at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. For their PhD, they are working on the cultures of innovation and labour around urban spaces. They are interested in exploring the cultural norms and practices that shape technology work and innovation. Their Master’s thesis, completed at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, was an ethnographic research project on labour and community building in open technology communities in India. Upasana was also previously a fellow at the Global Centre of Spatial Methods for Urban Sustainability at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany and has previously worked in the civic and open technology ecosystem in India. In their free time, they enjoy taking long walks, often with people.
