About the Crosstalk Series
The annual Crosstalk series brings together faculty, students, staff, and other community members to explore the field of information in all its diversity through conversation.
This year, the series is organized around a working glossary of ten concepts that cut across research in the Faculty of Information: Record, Memory, Classification, Knowledge, Infrastructure, Mediation, Behaviour, Connectivity, Labour, and Agency. Rather than treating these as settled definitions, each session pairs two faculty members whose research provides different ways of thinking through one of the concepts.
These sessions are intended as conversational exchanges (not research presentations) guided by PhD students who will lead the discussion connecting each concept to the faculty members’ work. The aim is to let our PhD students and the wider community encounter faculty research as part of a larger intellectual conversation about the concepts that organize Information as a field.
