Learning Hub

The Learning Hub’s mission is to help students and instructors feel more capable and motivated in their work. Our team strives to enhance academic rigour, individual efficacy, and a sense of community across the iSchool.

Because we’re run by iSchool faculty, staff and students, we know exactly what kinds of challenges students and instructors face, we know what skills you need for success, and – perhaps best of all – we’re free. The Learning Hub is a part of your iSchool experience.

For students, we provide a wide range of co-curricular workshops as part of our “iSkills” series, individual tutoring with highly-trained advanced students, bootcamps to help you start the year right, and technology loans to support your coursework and other academic projects.

For instructors, we offer individual consultations on curricular design, accessibility, and assessment though one-on-one meetings, teaching observations, and pedagogical communities of practice. Additionally, we can help you develop teaching dossiers and pedagogical portfolios.

The Learning Hub team is comprised of faculty and staff whose expertise spans the learning sciences, information sciences, accessibility studies, program design, creativity studies, universal design for learning, and educational technologies.

Each year, the team is joined by writing, technical skills, and research methods tutors, advanced graduate students who provide individualized help to undergraduate and graduate students on course assignments, theses, job and scholarship applications, all in service of increasing students’ self-efficacy and independence.
