Experiencing history through museum programming and interpretation
This workshop will focus on museum programming and interpretation in living history museums. Costumed interpretation is perhaps the most well-known example, but this can also include other programming, such as traditional craft workshops, garden and grounds interpretation, animal programs, and more.
Participants will:
- Discover how programming and interpretation focused on experiencing history can give museum visitors a deeper understanding of heritage
- Examine the definition of “living history” and how it applies to different types of museum programming
- Develop an idea for a program or interpretive display/exhibit/area etc. that would provide immersive learning for museum visitors
