Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Your rolePlease note We are hiring two Media Librarians:One role is assigned to a scheduled shift – Wednesday to Friday 0500-1315, Saturday & Sunday 1400-2400.One role is not assigned to a specific shift.Metadata and Information Management is seeking a Media Librarian to support the work of its clients in content production and presentation. Through the provision of library and information services, you will engage with clients to facilitate the searchability, access and retrieval of media assets in our various production and preservation systems. You will also be employing your skills as an information professional in applying metadata to CBC’s content in accordance with CBC’s corporate and departmental standards and policies. Work is governed by CBC programming and journalistic policies as well as various agreements governing the possible use of these materials.Key Tasks:Provide program material and/or research information on demand and assists content creators and others in the selection of material.Advise program production personnel on the availability of materials and assists them in obtaining materials.Research information using local resources.Ensure the safety, security, preservation, maintenance and availability of materials and related content.Screen broadcast material and select stock footage, prepare shot lists for cataloguing.As directed, will assess the condition of media for digital preservation.Accurately summarize audio/video content.Catalogue and classify content using metadata standards and controlled vocabularies.Manage the disposition and removal of materials when authorized to do so.Other tasks as assigned.We are looking for a candidate with the following:Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming is an asset.Familiarity with, or ability to learn, CBC internal systems including iNews, Medoc-Eureka, TVNLS, Avid and MAM.Understanding workflows involving digital media files, systems and tools is an asset.Technical knowledge of recording media.Knowledge of metadata standards, subject analysis and controlled vocabularies.Knowledge of or experience cataloging digital collections.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.Excellent communication and organization skillsStrong interpersonal skills working in a team environmentExperience working in a client-facing role.Ability to develop and foster client relationships.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to problem solve.Self-motivated and self-sufficient.Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming policies and journalistic standards and practices.2 years of comparable and relevant experience.Graduate degree from an accredited library school or equivalent education and experience.A Master’s degree in Library Science is considered an asset.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.If this sounds interesting, please click on ”Apply online”.
