Job Description
The Multimedia Graphic Designer is a creative thinker able to help create content that visually represents MPL’s brand, vision and organizational values. Working as a member of the Community Engagement team, they develop content to promote the library and its services in different media including print and digital platforms, in-branch signage, social media and through MPL’s website. The Multimedia Graphic Designer is able to work to deadline, manage multiple priorities, engage effectively with stakeholders, collaborate as a member of a team and problem solve creatively. They are skilled at communicating through visual imagery and creating exciting content to promote MPL.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Multimedia Design
1. Creates multimedia designs to support the MPL’s marketing and communications initiatives, including print, web, social media and other digital platforms.
2. Designs promotional creative materials for digital advertising campaigns, such as web banners, digital boards, and social media and for print campaigns, such as ads, posters, flyers, banners, book-marks and more.
3. Ensures user-friendly and AODA compliance in both digital and print design work.
4. Creates professional corporate videos to promote MPL’s key initiatives.
5. Works with team members to create social media videos to engage the public.
6. Provides photography for special events on as needed basis.
7. Stages photo shoots to create images suitable for print and online marketing materials.
Branding & Signage
8. Implements and maintains established branding guidelines for MPL including logo, fonts, and colours to ensure consistency in all materials created.
9. Creates merchandising posters for all branches based on the merchandising schedule and ensure de-signs stay up-to-date.
10. Works with the marketing manager and branch managers to design operational and service signage for all branches.
11. Liaises with internal stakeholders and coordinates assets (content, photos, videos, digital templates).
General Responsibilities
12. Keeps abreast of emerging design technologies to ensure state of the art processes are used.
13. Liaises with external printers to ensure deadlines are met and materials printed to the highest quality.
14. Works with the printers to provide print ready files and ensure smooth production of printed marketing materials.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable equivalent in graphic design, digital design, film or a related field.
2. A minimum of 1 year previous experience in related position is required.
3. Proficient in adobe creative suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere. Experience using Canva is an asset.
4. Experience in video editing and creating social media content is an asset.
5. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening check.

1. Submission of a complete portfolio of multimedia design content showcasing skills and experience is required.
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
3. Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.
4. Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships staff, vendors and other stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated organizational ability, including the ability to successfully manage multiple projects, tight timelines, including exacting schedules and deadlines.
