Job Description
Canadian Heritage Photography FoundationIn 2001, the renowned Canadian photographer Mr. George Hunter founded the Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation (CHPF). The CHPF is a Not-For-Profit located in one of Toronto’s largest suburbs of Mississauga, and is accessible by public transportation.The CHPF archive includes over 100,000 photographic negatives, slides, prints and ephemera. The Foundation would like to hire a current student of an Archiving, Archives and Record Management or Photographic Preservation and Information Management degree for nine-week Canada Summer Jobs position.Students hired for the position of Archival Assistant will be tasked with assisting the CHPF Archivist with duties such as: assisting with organizing the CHPF storage facility of photographic negatives, slides, prints and ephemera, providing historical research of photographic images for website content, assisting with Blog posts, assisting with database and collection management software.Students may also be trained to scan, digitize and edit photographs, assist with metadata and historical context for images, and rehouse materials according to archiving best practices.
